Poem #5- I Come From

I come from a place that is 75% blue.

A border where the sea and the sky blur into one

A city where together is everyone, and isolated is none.

I come from streamers flying through the warm breeze,

of running barefoot across Wish Park. No, excuse me-

'Aldrington Recreational Ground'. Much muddier in winter and

when wearing studded boots.

I come from the feeling of flight. The buzz of two tyres

Gliding narrowly over tarmac, a whirring chain which can

Rust if not cared for. A 25 mile loop that takes us

Around and over the ups and Downs. Soaring above.

I come from liberation. Free spirit is my name. A place

Where everything goes, and it goes rapidly and passionately.

Where to be normal is not normal, and to be not normal is

to be not normal. It's stunning.

I come from destructed jam tarts on video game controllers.

Mistakes that are loved and learned. A drive to venture, yet a

Longing to return home. Pylons and power plants in the distance, emitting

electricity into the void and the custard yellow sunsets viewed from

second floor windows with a friend.

That is where I come from.
